About

Alexandra Wingate

I’m a freelance journalist currently based in Edinburgh with experience in news, radio and TV broadcast, magazine, features, columns, and reviews.

My portfolio site contains almost everything journalism-y that I’ve either written or produced, copyright allowing. As you’ll see, I’m a regular contributor to TVBomb, where I’m also deputy editor. I’ve been published by the Scotsman, Edinburgh Evening News and the United Nations Association (UNA) among others, and my work has been referenced by both the BBC and STV. I’m currently in the final stages of co-producing a short documentary film for the UNA which will be distributed across the Middle East later this year.

I’m approaching the end of a busy year studying MA Journalism at Edinburgh Napier University where I’ve edited the reviews section of a magazine, had to produce TV packages within a couple of hours, and mastered shorthand. As exhausting as it’s all been, I’m raring to now conquer the Everest of the course: the dissertation.

When I’m not spending every other waking moment either waving my fist at the cloudy sky or rushing outside for a bit of warmth and sunshine (yes, it is possible to get a tan in Scotland), I’m indulging in my passion for the arts – particularly anything that happens on some kind of stage.

I’m always interested in exploring new opportunities – if you’d like to have a chat, please get in touch.
